Florida Trend named Aaron Resnick to its Florida Legal Elite list for business litigation in 2016.
Florida Trend is a statewide business magazine, and its Legal Elite list is built by balloting Florida Bar members. Attorneys are asked which lawyers they would recommend to a client, and the results are tabulated by practice area. The list is a poll of the Florida bar rather than an editorial selection or a research ranking.
Why the ballot method matters
Legal Elite asks a specific question, and the wording is what makes it useful: which attorney would you send a client to.
That is a harder question than whether someone is a good lawyer. Recommending a lawyer to a client puts the recommender's own relationship at risk. Attorneys answer it conservatively, and they answer it based on lawyers they have actually seen work.
Because the ballot goes to Florida Bar members statewide rather than to a Miami panel, the recognition also reaches beyond the local market. For a business litigator whose practice includes serving as local counsel for firms outside Florida, being named by attorneys across the state is the relevant signal.
