What the coverage documented
The Miami Herald identified Aaron Resnick as the attorney for Alex Omes, a co-founder of Ultra Music Festival, in Omes' suit against his former partners over his ouster from the company.
Omes co-founded Ultra in Miami in 1999. He was removed as president in August 2010, and in 2012 he sued, alleging that he had been forced out through a shareholders' meeting held without him while he still held a substantial share of the company's stock. The festival had by then grown from a Miami Beach event into a global brand with editions across several continents.
Trial began in Miami in January 2015. The Miami Herald reported that Aaron Resnick and Omes' brother Carlos became concerned when Omes failed to appear for opening arguments. Omes was found dead that morning, and the case proceeded with his estate as plaintiff.
Miami New Times reported in March 2016 that the trial court ruled for Ultra, finding no employment contract between Omes and the festival, and that the estate appealed.
