Miami attorney Aaron Resnick spoke for Miami Beach homeowners as the city considered restrictions and fines for house parties charging admission or promoting a product.
In January 2007, as the city weighed the proposals, the Miami Herald reported that Aaron, who was with a homeowners' rights group, called them “onerous” and said the noise and zoning ordinances already on the books were enough. He drew applause when he said: “why we are enacting laws telling citizens what they can or can't do in their own homes is beyond me . . . That's bad law.”
In February 2008 the Herald reported on the fines and quoted him as the leader of Miami Beach Residents to Protect Homeowners Rights, a group opposed to greater government regulation of homes: “Is this the start of a slippery slope?” and “What effect will this have on our ability to bring in business and events to Miami Beach?”
