What the service documents
Aaron Resnick co-chairs the Civil Litigation Committee of the Miami-Dade Bar and moderates the association's program The Recess. He also moderates Holding Court, a program of the Miami Beach Bar Association.
The Miami-Dade Bar is the county's voluntary bar association. Its practice area committees organize continuing legal education, coordinate with the bench on procedural issues, and provide the forum where litigators in a given field discuss how practice is actually working in the local courts.
Why committee leadership is a practical credential
A civil litigation committee co-chair spends time on the questions that decide cases without appearing in any opinion: how a particular division handles scheduling, where discovery disputes actually get resolved, which procedural approaches are working and which are creating delay, and what the bench is signaling about how it wants matters presented.
That is operational knowledge of the forum, and it is not available from research. It comes from sustained participation in the local litigation community and from regular contact with the judges and lawyers who make up that community.
For a client, the value is straightforward. Most business disputes are resolved through motion practice, mediation, or negotiated settlement rather than at trial. How efficiently a matter moves depends heavily on counsel who knows the local terrain. A litigator who helps organize the county's civil litigation bar knows that terrain as a participant.
Moderating The Recess and Holding Court adds a second dimension: both programs put Aaron in the position of running the conversation among his peers, which is a role colleagues assign to lawyers whose judgment they trust.
What the record does not establish
Bar committee service and program moderation reflect participation in and contribution to the local legal community. They are not measures of case outcomes and do not predict the result of any future matter.
